Texture Development Dependence on Grain Boundary Properties
The motivation for this work is to explain the development of special textures during recrystallization such as the cube component, {001}<100> in fcc metals. Monte Carlo simulation is used with two different mobility and energy functions. The energy function has little influence on texture development whereas the mobility function has a strong influence. A mobility function with a single broad ...
متن کاملQuark mass dependence of baryon properties
I discuss the quark mass dependence of various baryon properties derived from chiral perturbation theory. Such representations can eventually be used as chiral extrapolation functions when lattice data at sufficiently small quark masses become available. The quark mass dependence is encoded in loop and contact term contributions, the latter given in terms of low-energy constants. I stress the i...
متن کاملGiant saltation on Mars.
Saltation, the motion of sand grains in a sequence of ballistic trajectories close to the ground, is a major factor for surface erosion, dune formation, and triggering of dust storms on Mars. Although this mode of sand transport has been matter of research for decades through both simulations and wind tunnel experiments under Earth and Mars conditions, it has not been possible to provide accura...
متن کاملSaltation transport on Mars.
We present the first calculation of saltation transport and dune formation on Mars and compare it to real dunes. We find that the rate at which grains are entrained into saltation on Mars is 1 order of magnitude higher than on Earth. With this fundamental novel ingredient, we reproduce the size and different shapes of Mars dunes, and give an estimate for the wind velocity on Mars.
متن کاملEnhanced aerodynamic reach of vapor and aerosol sampling for real-time mass spectrometric detection using Venturi-assisted entrainment and ionization.
Venturi-assisted ENTrainment and Ionization (VENTI) was developed, demonstrating efficient entrainment, collection, and transport of remotely sampled vapors, aerosols, and dust particulate for real-time mass spectrometry (MS) detection. Integrating the Venturi and Coandă effects at multiple locations generated flow and analyte transport from non-proximate locations and more importantly enhanced...
